The holiday spirit was alive and well at ASB this past week, as students, staff, and families came together to celebrate in a variety of festive events across all grade levels. The week was filled with music, traditions, and community connections that captured the joy of the season.
In the Early Childhood Center and Grade 1, young performers delighted family members with a lively musical rendition of The Gingerbread Man. First graders also embraced the local Catalan tradition of the Tió de Nadal. After feeding the Tió a diet of mandarin peels and singing the traditional song, the Tió rewarded them with small gifts.
The elementary school assembly was a highlight, featuring team building songs, student recognition, and a spirited performance by the cheerleaders. Meanwhile, in the Middle School, the Orchestra made its debut with an impressive mix of holiday and pop songs, showcasing the students’ incredible progress over the past three months. Additionally, Grade 8 Link Crew members hosted a festive team-building lunch with their Grade 6 mentees, fostering connections and spreading holiday cheer.
Students and staff in the Middle and High School added a playful touch to the festivities with the "ugly sweater" contest, bringing laughter and creativity to the holiday celebrations.
Adding to the holiday atmosphere, the ASB staff band, big band, and Grade 4/5 choir filled the mornings with music, performing holiday songs as students and staff entered the building on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday before the winter break.
The week was a heartwarming and action-packed celebration of community, creativity, and holiday cheer, leaving everyone ready to enjoy a well-deserved winter break. Happy holidays from all of us at ASB!
