Class of 2016 Celebrates 10 Years

On Saturday, April 25, more than 70 former and current teachers joined alumni from the Class of 2016 back on campus to celebrate ten years since their graduation from the American School of Barcelona.

A large group of people, mostly young adults, gathered together outdoors in a park-like setting with trees and greenery in the background.

The reunion was organized by classmate Laura Sabaté, who spent months bringing the weekend together across time zones and travel schedules. The group returned to campus for a tour and a paella lunch, reconnecting with former teachers and, for many, seeing the school again for the first time in years.

The image shows a smiling young woman posing with an older man in what appears to be an outdoor dining or cafe setting, with buildings and trees visible in the background.

Alumni traveled from across the globe, including Los Angeles, New York, Texas, Chicago, Oslo, London, and Madrid. Being back at ASB brought a wave of memories, from classroom moments to an impromptu sing-along of a song they had learned as elementary students with Ms. Nancy Boyd.

More than 30 current and former staff members joined the celebration, including Mr. Bill Volchok, one of our newest alumni, and Ms. Marta Vernet, Laura’s mother.

The image shows a group of people engaged in conversation, with a woman in a white jacket and another woman in a white shirt standing in the foreground, while a man stands between them.

The alumni office marked the occasion with a surprise gift: a newly designed alumni t-shirt featuring a hand-drawn illustration by longtime custodian Manuel Hernández.

“It’s always special to see alumni come back, but there’s something about a ten-year reunion that feels different,” said Michelle Collin, Alumni Relations Director. “You can see how much they’ve grown, but also how strong their connection to ASB still is.”
