Eco Club Teaches 4th Graders About Solar Energy
Three members of the Eco Club—Andrew, Halia, and Vaclav (Grade 12)—recently led a hands-on learning experience for 4th graders as they began their unit on energy.
As part of a mini field trip to the high school’s solar panels, they explained the differences between renewable and non-renewable energy and why ASB is transitioning toward solar power to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
They also shared key facts about ASB’s solar energy use, noting that approximately 20% of the school’s electricity comes from solar panels—ranging from 10% in winter to 30% in summer—and that ASB can sometimes sell excess energy back to the grid.
A huge thank you to our Eco Club members for inspiring our young learners and promoting sustainability at ASB!
