Rhodes Scholar Victoria Puglia ’17 visited campus last week to connect with students and expand real-world service learning.
Victoria met with Ms. Marta Vernet, Head of Activities and Community Service, to explore potential online service collaboration opportunities between our students and the team she is currently working with in Uganda, an exciting step toward increased real-world engagement for our students.
Victoria attended ASB from 2001-13 (Pre-K through Grade 8), where she developed a strong sense of global curiosity and community that continues to shape her path today. A Rhodes Scholar, Victoria holds an MPhil in International Relations from Oxford University and has worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Bath.
She is now based in Uganda, working with the United Nations C4ISR Academy for Peace Operations as an ICT Innovation and Administrative Support Officer, helping assess training and organizational needs, streamline data, and formalize systems to support global peace operations.

Deeply committed to translating rigorous research into actionable, sustainable solutions, Victoria’s work spans food security, conflict, climate change, migration, and development. Her visit back to ASB is a powerful reminder of how our alumni continue to engage with the school and create opportunities for students to connect with global humanitarian efforts.

During her visit, Victoria reconnected with several former teachers and reflected on how special it felt to be back on campus. Though she moved to the Netherlands in Grade 8, she shared that returning to ASB truly felt like coming home.
