Guest Speaker Dr. Gay Leads Workshops on Building Intercultural Competency

Last week, ASB was pleased to welcome back Dr. Derrick Gay, a leading expert in intercultural competency. Dr. Gay facilitated workshops and focus groups with elementary students (grades 3–5), middle school students (grade 8), parents, and staff, focusing on building the skills and understanding needed to foster a more inclusive and welcoming school environment.

With students, Dr. Gay explored topics such as stereotypes, unconscious bias, and the impact that jokes can have.

We are grateful for Dr. Gay’s ongoing partnership and look forward to continuing this important work together next year.
