TEDxASB 2025: Inspiring Voices, Fresh Perspectives

TEDxASB 2025: Inspiring Voices, Fresh Perspectives

Last week's TEDxASB event brought together a dynamic mix of students, parents, and alumni for an unforgettable night of ideas worth sharing. Eight speakers took the stage to deliver powerful talks that explored identity, culture, creativity, and change, each one leaving the audience inspired and reflective.

The evening opened with a warm welcome from the student MCs, who set the tone for an engaging and thought-provoking program. From start to finish, the talks showcased the insight and curiosity that define the ASB community.

Among the highlights:
  • Emma Sanchez, a 12th grade student, explored the essence of leadership. In doing so, she exposed the flaws of today’s leaders and proposed a solution: empowering kids to become our leaders.
  • Yann Grechez, an ‘23 alum, discussed why he believes the modern political left is losing its popularity, and why the youth is increasingly embracing conservatism.
  • Lemonie Roxe, an 11th grade student, explored fashion’s influence on identity and power through personal stories and psychological theories.
  • Annika Carle, a 12th grade student, defended the linguistic pariah, the word “like,” and explored its history and space in modern English.
  • Nils Leijdekker, a 10th grade student, explored how the flag is not just a piece of fabric; it's a powerful visual shorthand for an entire nation's history, values, and identity, giving it symbolic power far beyond its material worth.
  • Bosco Cardenal, an 11th grade student, dove into the mystery of social media and the negative effect that it has on teenagers from his generation.
  • Oscar Sanchez, an ASB parent, spoke about how being an entrepreneur allows one to find true happiness.
  • Maria Sanchez, an ASB parent, spoke about the effects our society, culture, religion, family expectations and other factors shape the way we see the roles of women and men at home and in the workplace.

Each talk was unique, authentic, and deeply engaging, demonstrating the courage and thoughtfulness of our speakers.

A heartfelt thank you to our talented speakers, the student MCs, Clara Miranda Francis and Ayann Taddese, their coach, Anca Niculescu, and the dedicated organizing team for making TEDxASB a success. Events like these remind us of the power of ideas to connect and inspire as well as the extraordinary voices within our ASB community.
