As part of the RefugArt initiative, the students in PK3 created an amazing painting inspired by refugees and climate change. Although the artwork was not auctioned on the day of RefugArt, the committee later decided to organize an auction exclusively for PK3 parents.
After being exhibited for several days in the PK3 hallway, the painting found its winning family, raising 150 euros for the PK3/4 classes in the Dukwi Refugee Camp.
Last Friday, we celebrated this special achievement with an online ceremony where the students from both schools met each other virtually. Each group sang songs together and introduced themselves. Our three-year-olds learned that the students in Dukwi come from different countries such as Zimbabwe, Congo, Malawi, and Botswana.
This experience has been a wonderful example of the incredible potential young children have to understand the power of giving. Although they may not fully grasp the bigger picture, they genuinely feel happy and excited about meeting their new friends.
To continue strengthening this connection, the children in the Dukwi Refugee Camp are sending a drawing that will be framed and displayed in the PK3 hallway.
