As part of their Spanish studies and exploration of the past, ASB first graders embarked on a heartwarming visit to a local elderly home, Orpea, on Friday, March 7.
Leading up to the visit, students exchanged simple letters with the residents, introducing themselves and forming a connection before meeting in person.
During their visit, students had the opportunity to interview their elder partners, asking questions about their daily lives and childhood experiences. Through these meaningful conversations, students gained firsthand insight into the past while practicing their Spanish in a real-world context.
The experience was equally enriching for the elderly residents, who enjoyed sharing their memories and connecting with these curious young learners. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with storytelling and meaningful intergenerational connections, reinforcing the importance of learning from and honoring older generations.
