ASB Rocks Budapest at Inaugural AMIS Rock Band Festival

A group of High School musicians traveled to Budapest earlier this month to take part in the very first AMIS Rock Band Festival, hosted at the International American School of Budapest.

The six 9th and 10th grade band students formed their own band, How Did We Get Here?, and spent three days immersed in music alongside students from other leading international schools. The festival was equal parts workshop, collaboration, and performance, giving students the chance to develop their craft in an inspiring and creative environment.

Throughout the festival, students worked on songwriting, group jamming, and instrument-specific masterclasses. They also took part in a series of Rock and Popular music workshops, including a session led by ASB's own Director of Performing Arts, Kevin Hebden, titled "Creating Magic Cover Versions of Songs."

The festival culminated in a live Rock Festival performance, with the ASB band closing out the final concert of the evening.

Traveling with Mr. Hebden and Ms. Laia Borrell, the band members were: Nils Leijdekker, Hongxu (Kris) Li, James Liu, Ayden Gratier, Krista Coyne, and Anton Ezcurra. Congratulations to all six students on representing ASB so well.
