The ASB community enjoyed an afternoon and evening of laughter and classic comedy as our high school theater students, now known as the Courtyard Company, presented The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde on Monday.
The high school Spring play began four years ago in the theater room with fall improv classes. After getting involved, current seniors Rafael Horta and Annika Carle convinced Ms. Kaitlin Kemp to add a straight play in the spring. This year marked the fourth annual spring production, continuing what has become a growing theater tradition at the school.
This year's production featured fifteen talented student actors, including seven seniors, who rehearsed every Tuesday since March. With so much talent in the audition room, it was decided there would be two casts and two shows. The casts were co-directed by senior Annika Carle and Middle School Theater Teacher Kaitlin Kemp. Each cast brought its own unique energy and chemistry to Wilde's beloved period comedy.
After months of hard work and dedication, amid exams, illnesses and other end-of-year commitments, this group of theater makers certainly deserved the huge round of applause they received at the end of both performances.
