Last Friday, a group of 20 Interact students from high school and 4 Rotakids from middle school went with Ms. Marta Vernet, Head of Activities and Community Service, and Mr. Ferran Sole, Head of Compliance, to the La Mina neighborhood to organize an event for the children.

More than 100 people, including many parents—mainly from the Romani community—participated in the event.

The ASB students brought 135 jackets donated by the ASB community, packed in decorated bags, and personally delivered them to the families. They also organized fun games such as face painting, sack races, and limbo. Additionally, the students brought snacks and distributed them to the community.

The Rotary Club Barcelona 92 sponsored the event and brought a magician, who brought joy and laughter to both the children and their mothers.

A large group of people, both adults and children, are gathered in what appears to be a hallway or corridor, with some individuals wearing colorful and warm clothing.

One of our middle school students reflected,

“Doing this small thing for this underprivileged neighborhood has been one of the most eye-opening things that I’ve done, and I hope to continue to do many, many more.”

Another high school student shared,

“While I was putting the glitter into the tattoo stencil on her skin, her small hand wrapped around one of my fingers and stayed there until I finally finished the drawing. Even though this was just a small detail, it made me feel truly connected and empathetic towards the people of the Mina community.”

It was a long day for our students, but the satisfaction reflected on their faces was clear. We are so proud of these students and the positive impact they have made.
