Service Learning at Aproseat

As part of the Community Engagement class of the CP Career Program, 11th-grade students, together with Ms. Valentina Pollini and Ms. Marta Vernet, organized an activity day for adults with special needs at the Asproseat Foundation, located next door to the school.

Before the event, the students visited the foundation to meet participants and familiarize themselves with the space where the activities would take place. In class, they designed activities, selected necessary materials, and learned to work with adults with special needs.

On the day of the event, it was a great success. The initial uncertainty among the students gave way to a joyful atmosphere, where reciprocity and connection became the most important elements. The adults participated in a master cooking class led by Alegría and Alejandra, creating figures by combining icing, strawberries, and cookies. Another group painted Christmas trees using watercolors and paints, led by Sofía and Grace. A third group created figures with pipe cleaners under Rachel's guidance. Additionally, a group participated in basketball activities led by Mage.

Overall, it was a day filled with connection, growth, and authentic community engagement. This experience does not end here; the class plans to continue developing additional activities with the Asproseat Foundation.
