Over the past weekend our BCNMUN student executive team, supported by our MUN Directors Mr. Thom Gibbs, Ms. Monica Villanueva, Mr. Bill Volchok as well as Mr. Ugalde, Ms. Minu and Ms. Pollini, organized and ran a successful 13th edition of our Model United Nations conference which welcomed over 400 participants from Europe and North Africa.

The conference theme - Beyond Sovereignty: Strengthening global alliances in a divided world - asked delegates to explore and debate issues pertaining to refugee protection, militarization of the arctic, shifting geopolitical policies, the ethical dilemmas of multinational corporations, state complicit corruption, the Sahel region, the Korean Peninsula, and the threats of global terrorism.

This year our team chose to collaborate with Médecins Sans Frontièrs whose goals align with our commitment to fostering humanitarian awareness and action amongst youth. Proceeds from our conference will go to their on-going relief efforts.

We extend our gratitude to our student administrative and media teams who helped ensure that the conference ran smoothly, to our chair team whose expertise in their topics and committees allowed the debates to run smoothly, and to our 5 members of the executive team - Christina D., Aitana V., Sofia G., Elise M., and Emma S. - whose unwavering dedication over the past 9 months allowed for every participant to leave inspired and motivated to do the necessary work to continue the productive dialogues.

Congratulations to our very own delegates Alexander B., Nils L., and Ipek C. for winning honorable mention in the DISC, Security Council, and the General Assembly committees. We are extremely proud of all of our ASB community members who participated and look forward to next year's event!
