MS Students Shine at the AMIS European Honor Orchestra Festival

Congratulations to Lillian K. (Grade 8, viola), Abril R. (Grade 8, viola), Angela R. (Grade 7, violin), and Katherine Z. (Grade 6, cello), who participated in the AMIS Middle School European Honor Orchestra Festival last weekend. The festival was hosted by the International School of Basel in Switzerland and organized by the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS).

Representing ASB alongside talented young musicians from 16 international schools, our students spent over 15 hours rehearsing together, culminating in a powerful festival concert on Saturday evening. As participation in the festival was audition-based and highly competitive, their selection is a testament to their skill, dedication, and passion for music.

Here’s what some of the students had to say about the experience:

“This being my second year participating in AMIS, I’ve improved my violin-playing skills and enjoyed socializing with other kids. I’ve also learned about different types of conductors and various ways to play music.”

Angela, Grade 7

“This has made me a much better orchestra player. I have been able to make a lot of friends, especially as we already have something in common. It was great to see that although we are all from different places, we join together to play music."

Abril, Grade 8
