Rotakids Delivers Bags of Joy to Children at SJD Hospital

Rotakids, a Lynx elective led by Middle School Humanities teacher Dawn Austin, empowers students to use their skills and passions to make a positive impact in the community.

A group of people, mostly young women, standing together in front of a modern building with large windows.

This month, the Rotakids continued their long-standing partnership with Sant Joan de Déu Children’s Hospital, where they delivered goody bags of joy to young patients. The visit, now in its third year, was a meaningful experience for our Middle School students and a reminder of the power of kindness and service.

Two young people, a boy and a girl, are engaged in an activity together, with the girl assisting the boy with something he is working on. The background includes a room with various decorations and furnishings.

Beyond this initiative, Rotakids are also leading several community projects, including collecting coats for families in need, gathering pet supplies for a local animal shelter, and inviting guest speakers from NGOs to share their work on global issues such as eradicating polio and rescuing migrants at sea.

The image shows several people wearing masks and standing in what appears to be a museum or gallery setting, with a wall display of various circular objects in the background.

Through these experiences, students learn valuable leadership skills - organizing fundraisers, writing emails, arranging meetings, designing posters, and coordinating events - all while having fun and building connections across the ASB community.
