RefugArt: A Night of Art, Empathy, and Action

Last Friday evening, the ASB community came together for one of the most moving events of the school year. RefugArt, ASB's annual student-led fundraiser for refugees around the world, took guests on an immersive journey through the stories, struggles, and resilience of displaced people, brought to life through visual art, live performance, and music.

 
A Community of Performers

Students from across the school contributed to the evening. Middle School theater students performed an original piece exploring what it means to be forced from your home. High School global politics students led a thought provoking debate on the forces driving the refugee crisis. Elementary School choir students filled the room with beautiful harmony. We are also grateful to guest speaker Silvia Sala, Director at the UNHCR, whose firsthand expertise gave the evening real depth and urgency.

Making an Impact

A live and silent auction of works created by students and community members raised over €15,000, which will be donated to the UNHCR and partner NGOs supporting refugees around the world.

RefugArt is a powerful example of what students can achieve when given the trust and freedom to lead. We are enormously proud of everyone who made this evening possible, and extend a special thank you to Marta Vernet, our Head of Service Learning and Activities, and to the Art, Theater, and Music departments for their dedication and support. We also want to recognize the parents who donated artwork, especially Pascal Podvin and Giovanni Levanti, and Thiago Alcântara for donating the signed Barça jersey. Your generosity made a real difference.
