High School Education in Barcelona

Welcome to the High School!

Not all high school experiences are created equal. At ASB, we have intentionally designed a program that challenges students to think deeply, engage authentically, and grow into the best version of themselves.

Our students have access to a rigorous American curriculum alongside internationally recognized IB pathways, taught by experienced educators who are genuinely invested in each student's growth. We hold high expectations, and we provide the support to meet them.

But academic excellence is only part of the picture. We want our graduates to leave ASB as independent thinkers, compassionate community members, and confident young adults who are ready for whatever comes next, whether that is a university across the world, a career they are passionate about, or a path they have not yet imagined.

In addition to meeting the requirements of the US High School Diploma, students may choose to complete individual IB courses, earning IB Course Certificates, without committing to the full diploma's intensive workload. This option allows students the flexibility to focus on their academic strengths.

IB Diploma Program

Since 2009, ASB has proudly offered the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), a globally recognized pre-university curriculum known for its rigor and emphasis on critical thinking.

Students pursuing this pathway also earn the US High School Diploma.

IB Career-Related Program

In September 2025, ASB introduced the International Baccalaureate Career-related Program (IBCP). The IBCP blends the academic rigor of the IB Diploma Program with specialized career-related studies and hands-on, real-world experience.

Students pursuing this pathway also earn the US High School Diploma.

A Counseling Program to Support Every Student

The image shows two young women, one standing at a desk and the other approaching it, in what appears to be an educational or administrative setting with various pennants and posters on the walls.

At ASB, every High School student is supported by a dedicated team of counselors spanning two areas of expertise. Our university and career counselors bring deep knowledge of American, British, Spanish, and international admissions, guiding each student through the university search and application process with personalized, one-on-one support. Our personal and academic counselors are here to support students' social-emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and diverse learning needs, ensuring every student has the tools they need to thrive inside and outside the classroom.

Where Learning Meets the Real World

We believe some of the most meaningful learning happens outside the classroom. From fall community-building trips and curricular day trips across Catalunya to overnight trips to Madrid, Berlin, and Krakow, our students experience the world as an extension of their studies. High School students also have the opportunity to represent ASB at international conferences and competitions in Model United Nations, Oracy events, sports and math competitions, and performing arts festivals.
