IB Career-related Program
What is the IB Career-related Program?
The International Baccalaureate Career-related Program (IBCP) offers an alternative route to the IBDP, emphasizing a more hands-on approach to learning that is highly regarded by employers. Achieving success in the IBCP allows students to pursue university studies or explore other avenues, such as apprenticeships.
The IBCP develops students to be:
- Academically strong
- Skilled in a practical field
- Critical and ethical thinkers
- Self-directed
- Collaborative
- Resilient and determined
- Confident and assured
- Caring and reflective
- Inquirers
Requirements
- Careers Related Study: Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Diploma in Business
- 2-3 IB Diploma Courses
- IBCP Core
Students who complete the IB Careers-related Program are also awarded the US High School Diploma.
IBCP Core
Career-related Study
The Career-related Study will make up approximately 50% of the students' schedules. They will be pursuing the Pearson Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Level 3 International Diploma in Business, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, which will include both classroom learning and work-place experiences. This approach allows students to apply the skills they are developing in real-world settings.
BTECs are high-quality, career-focused qualifications grounded in the real world of work. This means BTEC learners develop and apply the knowledge, skills and behaviors that employers and universities are looking for.
Diploma Program Courses
All IBCP students will complete 2 or 3 IBDP courses, one of which must be Group 1 English A. These are exactly the same as the courses taken by the IBDP students.
