Where Middle School

Students Thrive

Welcome to the Middle School!

Middle school is one of the most dynamic and formative chapters of a young person's life, and at ASB, we take that seriously. These are the years when students begin to discover who they are, what they care about, and what kind of person they want to become.

Our job is to meet them where they are. The ASB Middle School brings together a highly experienced and deeply committed team of educators who understand and appreciate this age group and are passionate about bringing out the best in every student. We combine an intellectually engaging academic program with the kind of genuine care and mentorship that helps young people thrive.

When our students move onto High School, they carry with them not only a strong academic foundation, but also a deepened sense of self, a spirit of curiosity, and a commitment to the greater community.

Supporting the

Whole Student

We believe great learning happens when students feel both stretched and supported. In the ASB Middle School, a rigorous academic program is balanced with the guidance and care students need to navigate these transitional years between Elementary and High School with confidence.

The Middle School Experience

Beyond the Classroom

At ASB, some of the most meaningful learning happens when students step beyond the classroom walls. Our Middle School program is designed to build independence, deepen connections, and bring learning to life through experiences that matter:

  • Off-campus team building trips in the fall and spring
  • Curricular field trips throughout the year
  • A rich After School Activities program
  • Our Annual Ski Week trip in February

Student Life

Middle school is a time for students to discover their interests, deepen their sense of belonging, and become active members of a community larger than themselves. At ASB, they have every opportunity to do just that.

Through Student Council and WEB, students have a meaningful voice in shaping school life. Clubs and co-curricular activities such as GSA, Rotakids, Model United Nations, Oracy, and Eco Club, along with a wide range of quarterly electives, give students countless ways to explore their passions and grow as leaders.

Middle School at ASB is also shaped by shared traditions. Spirit Week, the Spring Fling dance, Halloween celebrations and quarterly assemblies add energy, joy, and school pride to the year. Service is also an important part of student life, with middle school students taking the lead on our annual charity food drive supporting families in the local community.

Mentorship

The Middle School Mentorship program pairs each student with a dedicated teacher who serves as a mentor, advocate, and trusted guide throughout the year. Created to support the unique needs of middle school students, the program provides a respectful and inclusive environment where students develop essential life skills such as empathy, responsibility, and problem-solving through small group discussions, collaborative activities, and reflection.

In addition to character development, Mentorship offers practical support for the everyday challenges of middle school life, including organization, time management, healthy technology habits, conflict resolution, stress management, and goal setting. It is also a space where community is strengthened through team-building, shared traditions, and opportunities for student voice and leadership.
At its heart, the Mentorship program helps ensure that every student feels known, valued, and connected throughout the middle school journey.
