English Programs
ASB’s English Language Center has been teaching English to enthusiastic 3-17 year-old students in the Barcelona area for more than 35 years. We emphasize imaginative teaching and experiential learning that invites participation and creativity. Taking advantage of all the campus resources of ASB, we also seek to provide a variety of enrichment activities that offer students the opportunity to practice English while developing other skills and talents.
English Programs
WEEKDAYS
The ASB English Language Center offers English classes on Monday and Wednesday afternoons during the school year. Classes focus on building students' reading, writing, speaking and listening skills through a variety of engaging activities and technology projects.
Students are assigned to classes according to age and English proficiency level. Students (ages 11+) may also sign up for one of our Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses.

Virtual Session
On September 30 at 6 PM, we will hold a virtual information session in English for families interested in our Cambridge (PET, First, Advanced and Proficiency) courses designed for students ages 11+ with an intermediate level or higher in English.

SATURDAYS
The ASB English Language Center offers English classes on Saturday mornings during the school year. Classes consist of 2.5 hours of academic English instruction, plus 1 hour of an activity where English is integrated into the class (e.g. sports, drama, etc.).
Students are assigned to classes according to age and English proficiency level. Students (ages 11+) may also sign up for one of our Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses.

CAMBRIDGE EXAMS
The English Language Center offers test prep courses for the Preliminary (B1), First Certificate (B2), and Advanced (C1) exams. If your child is 11 years old and has an intermediate level of English in listening, speaking, reading and writing, our team of qualified teachers can prepare them to earn an internationally recognized certificate from Cambridge University which can help facilitate university entrance. ELC students consistently outperform other test takers in Spain and the rest of the world. Test prep courses, with a maximum of 15 students per class, are available in both our Weekday and Saturday classes.
Interested students should apply through our Weekday or Saturday programs.

Cambridge Preliminary for Schools (B1) Students learn more complex grammatical structures that require an advanced level of reading and writing than in previous courses. The oral component of the courses are also more rigorous as students must demonstrate that they can use all these structures when communicating. |

Although the structures have already been introduced in previous courses, students must continue to work on using them correctly when speaking and be able to express themselves flawlessly in English.

Summer Program Details
The ASB English Language Center offers a 4-week Summer Program for students looking to immerse themselves in English in an engaging and interactive environment. In addition to intensive English classes meant to build reading, writing, and speaking fluency, students will enjoy classes such as Art, Technology, Sports, Lego Robotics, and more, all in English taught by native, certified English teachers. Lessons are designed to meet the developmental needs of the students.
Classes for Ages 3-5
Classes for our youngest learners focus on hands-on, sensory experiences that support cognitive, social-emotional, communication and fine and gross motor development. Children are encouraged to explore and practice their language skills with a wide range of developmentally appropriate materials and activities.
Classes for Ages 6-17
Summer morning classes consist of 2.5 hours of daily academic English instruction, plus 1.5 hours of an activity where English is integrated into the class, such as art, library visits, sports, etc.

Students are assigned to their classes according to their age and level of English proficiency.
Length of Program
Given the academic nature of our programs, the intensive Summer English course is designed to be completed over the full 4-week period, providing students with an immersive experience producing strong gains in their language development. In light of this, we prioritize 4-week applications. Candidates requesting fewer than four weeks are placed on a waiting list and will be contacted in mid-June, space permitting.
