Clubs & Leadership

At ASB, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of clubs and leadership opportunities for students across all grade levels.

These programs provide students with more than just extracurricular activities—they are platforms for growth. By joining a club, students connect with peers who share their interests, develop new talents, and gain valuable experiences that enrich their academic journey. Leadership opportunities within these clubs help students cultivate confidence, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Additionally, we encourage students to take initiative. Those with unique interests or hobbies are welcome to propose and create new clubs, empowering them to turn their passions into thriving communities.

High School

Student Newspaper - The biweekly Blue and Read endeavors to cover topics of both global and scholastic importance with thorough, thoughtful student-driven journalism.

Yearbook - Club members are responsible for choosing the yearbook’s theme, which is then communicated through the design, layout, and content.

Eco Club - The Eco Club helps drive school wide initiatives that will lead to a more sustainable school and community. Read more about our Eco-School here.

Middle and High School

Model United Nations - MUN is a simulation of the real United Nations, open to 8th-12th grade students, that teaches students about the principles of the UN and how it functions. Throughout the year, students participate in a number of MUN conferences with other schools, helping to raise awareness about global issues and incite students to take action.

Speech, Debate, and Acting Club (NESDA) - Students from 8th grade and up may join NESDA. Students typically compete in two tournaments a year, one hosted at ASB and another in another European city. Participating teams compete across five disciplines: debate, duet acting, original oratory, oral interpretation of literature and impromptu speaking.

Math Club - Students in grades 6 and up train to compete in various math competitions throughout the year, including: Math CountsCangur, and ISMTF.

Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) - The GSA is a student-led club that aims to create a safe, welcoming, and accepting school environment for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Student Council (STUCO) - ASB has an active STUCO, one for middle school students, and another for high school students. STUCO serves as a voice for the student body, bringing concerns, suggestions, and ideas that will improve the school environment to the school administration. STUCO also plays a vital role enhancing school spirit.

Link Crew Leaders - Link Crew Leaders are 11th and 12th grade student mentors for incoming 9th graders. They are trained to welcome students to the high school and meet regularly with their mentees, both in the classroom and in Link sponsored social events, to share tips and strategies on how to be successful in high school. We also have a similar program with 8th graders mentoring incoming 6th graders to the middle school.

Elementary School

Journalists Club - Create a monthly news presentation for all elementary students.

Ambassadors Club - Help welcome new families to ASB and give tours of the elementary school to prospective families.

Principal’s Advisory Committee (PAC) -  Work closely with the elementary principal to plan assemblies and make recommendations for school improvement.

Math Club - Interested students in grade 5 train to compete in the Math Quest competition.
